Winning a Bright New Future for Edinburgh

Give Edinburgh a Bright New Future

12.01.05pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 2nd May 2007

Speaking to constituents in West Edinburgh on the day before the historic STV elections for the City of Edinburgh Council, Cllr. Jenny Dawe, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, said: "We have been running a positive campaign to get Liberal Democrat Councillors elected to the Council. The lies and misrepresentations that Labour candidates have been publishing about us and our policies demeans what should be a tough but fair contest for votes. We do not think that the electorate is foolish enough to believe what Labour is saying in its last-ditch desperation not to be wiped out, but it has a destructive effect on local politics.

"If you want to get rid of tired Labour, send a message that independence is not relevant to these Council elections, and that you do not want councillors that appear to have little faith in public services, then you should cast your votes for the Liberal Democrat candidates in Thursday's elections.

" We will give Edinburgh a Bright New Future by putting you first; by working in partnership with you; by listening to you; by delivering the high quality services you want; by giving you more say in decision-making; by giving you value for money; and by responding to you quickly and courteously"
